Bass and Miranda Quédate en Casa!

By Jen Potter

Dr. Len Bass, Adjunct Teaching Faculty, and Dr. Eduardo Miranda, Associate Teaching Professor in the Institute for Software Research (ISR), Masters of Software Engineering (MSE) Programs, participated in “Stay at Home with Software Engineering” earlier this month. The event was organized by the Ingeniería de Software in Uruguay (IS.uy) to replace the annual Jornadas de Ingeniería de Software which was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The IS.uy is a coalition of universities and industry partners dedicated to the promotion and development of the field of software engineering in Uruguay. The organization strives to build a strong community, generate synergy, and strengthen the links between industry and academia.

In keeping with the mandate of the organization, participants in the Software Engineering Conference were drawn from academia and industry.

Dr. Bass shared his views, in English, on architecting systems with microservices. Dr. Miranda introduced a hybrid development method called “Milestone Driven Agile Execution” in Spanish. The accompanying paper, “Milestone Driven Agile Execution: Bridging the Gap Between Agility and Planning” is available in English.

Recordings of the presentations from “Stay at Home with Software Engineering” are available on the IS.uy website.
