Dr. S. Sivakumar 

Professor, SSN SASE

Dr. Sivakumar has 26 years of experience in software engineering and development across many organizations. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from IIT, Bombay where he specializ ed in mathematical modeling and simulation pertaining to process industries. After obtaining his doctoral degree, Dr Sivakumar worked in several petrochemical industries and was involved in various simulation projects across Europe for nearly 8 years. He had published and presented several papers in international journals and conferences on mathematical modeling and simulation pertaining to petrochemical and fertilizer industries.

After returning to India in 1995, Dr Sivakumar joined the IT industry and worked as project manager for several large projects before joining Rational Software in 1999 where he functione d as Tech Lead. He moved into IBM as part of its acquisition of Rational in 2003 and functione d as Software IT Architect. He later worked as CTO with an independent partner to IBM based in Germany from 2006. Throughout his career, Dr. Sivakumar has received numerous accolades and performance awards for successful implementations leading to overall customer success and satisfaction.

Returning to India in 2009, Dr. Sivakumar took up the full time faculty position at the SSN School of Advanced Software Engineering in Chennai, India where he had been a guest faculty member since its inception. As a part of the MSIT-SE program based in Chennai, Dr. Sivakumar now teaches Software Architecture, Methods: Deciding What to Design, and Analysis of Software Artifacts, in addition to mentoring MSIT-SE project teams. Dr Sivakumar also offers training and consulting services to the IT industries in India. He is currently working on enabling the small and medium enterprises in integrating their applications using services.
